How to choose a giant snow globe hire company

What should you ask a giant snow globe hire supplier before booking?

Ask who crews it, what paperwork comes with it, whether the equipment is tested, what throughput they will commit to, how long artwork takes, what happens if the weather closes an outdoor site, and exactly what the quoted figure includes. Any supplier confident in their operation will answer all seven in writing.

Hiring an attraction is unusual as a purchase: you are buying a day that has not happened yet, from a photograph. The only reliable protection is the specificity of the answers you get beforehand.

These are the questions we would want asked of us. They are framed neutrally, and no other supplier is named or characterised here.

Finish and dressing are visible in every photo a guest takes — worth checking before you book.

Is it crewed, or dropped off?

Ask whether the supplier installs and operates the attraction, or delivers it for your staff to run.

Both models are legitimate, but they are different products, and the difference belongs in the quote rather than in a conversation on install morning. We install, crew and operate the globe, and can alternatively brief venue stewards with operating instructions and the RAMS pack.

What paperwork comes with the booking?

Expect a setting-specific risk assessment and method statement, public liability confirmation and evidence that electrical equipment is tested.

Generic paperwork that does not reflect your setting will be sent back by most venue safety teams. Our RAMS pack is published in four setting-specific versions — generic, indoor shopping centre, outdoor public space and outdoor park — on a 5x5 risk matrix, and £10 million public liability cover is in place for the giant snow globe.

  • ❄£10 million public liability insurance
  • ❄Site and event-specific RAMS
  • ❄PAT documentation
  • ❄Material and fire certification
  • ❄Inspection logs

What is the equipment and medium actually made of?

Ask what the snow is, and whether it leaves residue.

Ours is a dry eco artificial snow made from vegetable starch derived from potato and turnip — non-toxic — swept and reused between sessions with no liquid and nothing left on clothing. Materials are specified as flame retardant and electrical equipment is PAT tested.

What throughput will they commit to?

A credible answer is a cycle time, not a headline capacity figure.

We publish roughly one group every three minutes, about 20 groups an hour, and around 95 to 140 groups across a typical trading day. If a supplier quotes a much higher figure, ask which stage of the cycle they have removed to get it.

How long does branding take?

Ask for the artwork deadline in working days, not a vague reassurance.

Our quotes are issued within 48 hours, and the working lead time for a fully branded install is four to six weeks from a confirmed brief.

What happens if the weather closes an outdoor site?

Ask for the stand-down position in writing, and check it appears in the hire terms rather than only in conversation.

Ours is published in the bad weather and outdoor bookings policy, alongside the hire terms.

What does the quote include?

Install, operation, de-rig, medium, crew, travel and any extras should each be identifiable in the figure.

Giant snow globe hire starts from £1,395 plus VAT, and we quote per activation because run length, branding, crewing, distance and extras all move the number. What matters is that you can see which of those you are paying for.

Common mistakes when planning a giant snow globe attraction

The recurring ones are booking late, buying on headline price, not checking documentation, leaving artwork late, and planning for the structure instead of the operation.

  • ❄Booking too late — availability tightens as key dates approach, especially at Christmas, so plan early where the date matters
  • ❄Choosing solely on lowest price — assess the complete offering: equipment, documentation, insurance, staffing, reliability, installation planning and operational support
  • ❄Not verifying documentation — establish what safety, insurance, material and fire, electrical and inspection paperwork exists for the actual attraction being supplied
  • ❄Leaving branding too late — if bespoke print cannot be produced in time, standard theming is used instead and the campaign loses some of its intended impact
  • ❄Underestimating operational space — the 3.5m structure is only part of it; the operational perimeter, rope-and-post barrier, crew movement and queueing space all need planning

A note on our own experience

GlobeHire is a new business operated by Spotted Frog Entertainment. Its founder has worked hands-on with this type of event attraction since 2010 — approximately 16 years of personal events industry experience as of 2026.

That experience is practical rather than theoretical: event planning, attraction operation, installation, event logistics, staffing and operations, high-footfall environments, and both commercial and public event planning.

We are deliberately careful about how it is described. It is the founder's personal professional experience, not 16 years of company trading history for GlobeHire or Spotted Frog Entertainment, and earlier work is never presented as a GlobeHire project or client list. What we publish about our own operation — timings, throughput, method, paperwork — comes from our own installs.
